Woodsy Retreat
This client loves trees and streams but her home was surrounded by lawn. She wanted her house in the hills to feel more like a cabin in the woods.
To create the feeling of a forest we removed the lawn and added trees and shrubs, changing the scale of the surrounding space from open to more intimate and sheltering.
A dry stream bed was installed to give the feel of
flowing water without the engineering and installation expense of an
actual stream.
We created a rustic stone walkway to connect the front entrance to the side deck. Near a large seating rock there is a stone bowl that holds water year round, and creates a quiet and beautiful place for contemplation.
